The value of promotional events – (Chuckle Brothers optional)
Yes, the rumours are true. Despite earlier protests on this blog relating to misconceptions about life in PR, the camera doesn’t lie. Barnaby and Jenny from the PR team swanning off on work time to mingle with the ‘A listers’…typical!
In reality, the picture was taken at the launch for Hull New Theatre’s 2011/12 Pantomime, Cinderella, starring the Chuckle Brothers. BBC Look North, ITV Calendar, and the rest of the region’s media converged on Hull City Hall to cover Paul and Barry, alongside a brace of Shetland ponies, as they larked about in Victoria square.
‘Chucklemania’ swept over the city centre, and fans went away with pictures and autographs, together with leaflets promoting the show. And as a result of the buzz and coverage the event generated, sales for the Pantomime have really picked up, and are going strongly ahead of the launch on 11th December.
But what if you don’t have the Chuckle Brothers on hand to generate a buzz?
