Bluestorm and Hull College secure ‘Best Website’ Heist Award nomination

A website we developed with our client Hull College, has been shortlisted to receive a prestigious, national Heist Award.

Nominated in the category ‘Best Website’, the new Hull College site www.hull-college.ac.uk fought off stiff competition from colleges and universities across the country to reach the final shortlist. The winner will be announced at a high profile awards evening in Manchester in July.

John Basker, Director of Bluestorm said…

“It’s a fantastic achievement to get this far in the Heist awards, and to do so, we have had to show creativity, technical innovation and that we had created a great user experience.

“Most importantly of all, we had to demonstrate how the website had achieved the objectives set for it – namely to support student recruitment. At the time of entering the award, numbers of student applications had risen by 60% on the same period last year.”

“The new site is playing a major role in helping potential students to search and apply for courses that match their future career aspirations. It has also achieved the secondary targets we have set for it – namely to develop a secure, online course database management system which provides accurate and complete information for the website.

“And we have radically improved our online careers advice and guidance through our creative presentation of careers information.

“Our ‘Career Coach’ web tool is designed to show students the type of qualifications and skills needed to access particular job roles, many of which are available at Hull College”.

Now celebrating its 27th year, the Heist Awards celebrate the excellence and innovation of everyone involved in education marketing, from regional colleges to global university brands.
