Hull Business Week 2014
The movers and shakers of the region’s business community were out in force last week as the tenth Humber Business Week took place.
From June 2nd to 6th, 65 events took place across the area involving 65,000 guests – making it the greatest year yet for Humber Business Week. Some of those attendees included our team members here at Bluestorm, who were pleased to support the event and be part of the buzz surrounding it.
Each year, a diverse programme of events, including breakfast meetings, keynote speaker lunches, expos, conferences, workshops and tours, provides excellent inspiration and information to delegates – and 2014’s Biz Week was no exception. For the Bluestormers who attended, a particular highlight was the Bondholders Breakfast, where a ‘Through The Keyhole-style’ game was hosted by Alan Johnson MP.
The idea of Humber Business Week is to inspire, educate and show the very best in business and enterprise. At Bluestorm, we helped contribute to the theme this year by supporting the first-ever Made in Hull Awards, which were launched by Streets Chartered Accountants.
A new addition to the Biz Week programme, Made in Hull aims to recognise and celebrate the innovative goods and services originating in the Hull area. So, we invited businesses to nominate companies, products or services (their own or others), which demonstrate pioneering thinking and boast true local provenance.
We were impressed with the wealth of entries we received, which demonstrated an eclectic blend of creative and corporate projects that are happening in the city. The winners were announced at the inaugural Made in Hull celebration event on Thursday 5th June at the KC Lightstream Stadium, hosted by Barry Dodd CBE, Chair of Council and Pro Chancellor at the University of Hull.
