On the twelfth day of Christmas, Bluestorm gave to me
12 spectacular bakes, hours upon hours of pain-staking preparation and an excessive amount of calories later, the official winners of the 2013 Christmas Bake Off have finally been revealed...
As the 12 master bakers gathered together on Wednesday afternoon, brimming with nervous anticipation, our lovely receptionist Nadia and our SEO Manager, Jake ‘The Voice of Yorkshire’ Ingleby, prepared to announce the top three placing bakes of the competition.
Waiting with baited breath, our designer Leanne Hurd and PR consultant Laura were delighted to learn that they had secured joint third place, thanks to their deliciously tasty Daim Good Torte Bites and Love Heart Biscuits, respectively. Lovingly created and with masterful execution of that all-important motto ‘if in doubt, get the glitter out’, Leanne and Laura’s bakes went down a real treat with the Bluestorm gang.
Next up, our silver medallists were announced as designer Marcus, for his naughty but nice ‘Boost My Brownies’, and our client services manager Kirstie for her ‘Crunchie Golden Balls’.
And last, but by no means least, taking the joint top spot are our King and Queen of the Bake Off, (our very own Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry, some might say) – drum roll please – designer Pete and PR consultant Rebecca!
Pete’s ‘After Eight Mojito Cheesecake’ and Reb’s ‘Christmas Choc-rizo’ impressed no end, with plenty of ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ coming from every corner of the office as they tucked into the sweet treats. Moreishly good and beautifully presented, their unique take on this year’s ‘Favourite Childhood Snack’ theme helped rocket them to first place.
And like all royalty, it wouldn’t be a coronation ceremony without a crown…to share…obviously…oh and we threw in a festive winners t-shirt for good measure – now that’s what we call an early Christmas present!
So, as the whisks, icing sugar and mixing bowls are stowed away for yet another year, our Bluestorm bakers will be able to sit back, relax and (fingers crossed) get someone else to rustle up the dessert for Christmas Day.
Keep your eyes peeled though, as we’ll be unveiling the winning recipes soon, so our fellow baking enthusiasts can have a bash at recreating some of our top-rated recipes from this year’s competition.
That’s it for this year though, so Merry Bakemas one and all, we’ll be back in 2014!
