When Siemens Gamesa were recruiting for their new turbine blade factory in Hull, they attracted over 20,000 applications, but only 7% were from women. Our client, Green Port Hull, wanted to help and asked for our support.
Together, we developed Women into Manufacturing and Engineering (WiME). The objective was to provide information to girls and women about the employment opportunities available to them. We developed branding and identity, and delivered an integrated communications strategy, using media relations, social media, content marketing, stakeholder engagement and events.
We raised awareness, engaged with stakeholders and have attracted over 350 women and girls to three careers events.
Across all communications, we reached in excess of 1.1 million people. More importantly, as a direct result of WiME, five women secured full-time jobs, two have secured apprenticeships and an eighth has enrolled on a trainee course with WiME partner employers.
We were also thrilled to be shortlisted for three awards for our work on this campaign from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, the PRCA and the Northern Marketing Awards.
