We were excited to win a public tender to rebuild the Deep’s website in 2014 – who wouldn’t be!
Housed in its landmark building, at the confluence of the rivers Hull and Humber, the Deep is one of the UK’s most exciting and successful aquariums.
The new site needed, first and foremost, to attract visitors to the Deep. However, it also needed to raise awareness of the Deep’s not for profit purpose, projects and hire facilities.
We developed a fully optimised, content rich site that is achieving all of the objectives set for it.
And, in order to ensure that it continues to do so, we are supporting The Deep’s team with an on-going campaign of on and off page search engine optimisation – SEO.
We analyse how visitors are using the site and develop strategies to improve ticket sales and visits to the online shop.
We regularly develop new content including, recently, a series of infographics on the conservation status of a range of animals including penguins, turtles and sharks.
Last, but not least, we help the Deep, as a registered charity, to take advantage of the free PPC advertising offered by the Google Grants scheme.
Our most recent results include:
• A 7% increase in organic traffic year on year (15/16 vs 16/17)
• A 7% reduction in bounce rate
• Gained online coverage and a link back from the National Geographic Kids’ website
• A 102% increase in online shop purchases
Becky Leach, Marketing Manager of the Deep, said:
“Bluestorm was appointed as The Deep’s web agency following a tender process late in 2014.
“Since this time, they have re-designed both our desktop and mobile sites, e-newsletter templates and provide us with daily support and advice. They have also created a bespoke booking system for our evening restaurant which has allowed us to streamline our booking process and service preparation.
“They are a pleasure to deal with and are always on the end of a phone when required. I would whole-heartedly recommend Bluestorm as a digital agency as we are really proud of our website.”
