AI Marketing has gotten a whole lot more accessible. With six months of testing in the US, ChatGPT Ads are now rolling out in the UK and 31 other European markets, and this time, they’re budget friendly.
As the GEO rules shift, this blog will break down the ins and outs of ChatGPT Ads, why they matter, and how you can start getting ahead of the queue.
Where it all began
AI remains an ever-changing slope that businesses are eager to keep up with. With visibility moving beyond Google rankings and keywords to prompts and conversations, we previously blogged about an organic approach to AI marketing.
But as the approach shifts once more, February 2026 saw the launch of ChatGPT advertising in a US pilot, offering early ads to Free and Go tiered ChatGPT users. The only catch: reports like Clicky suggest the barrier for entry stood at $200,000, later dropping to $50,000.
Despite the substantial costs, business like Target documented a 40% growth in web traffic in a single month, while marketing agencies such as Omnicom Media also confirmed more than 30 of its clients securing placement in the pilot.
What has changed
The unveiling of ChatGPT Ads in the UK saw the initial entry fee dropping entirely, replaced by as little as a £18 daily budget, as reported by Clicky. Furthermore, advertisers are charged based on link clicks, priced at £2-£4 per click, with wiggle room based on ad relevance, user intent, and market competition. This not only makes it more attainable for businesses of all shapes and sizes but opens a window to the future of AI marketing.
With geo-targeting and custom audiences introduced, businesses can filter to specific audiences, using context hints and relevant conversations to secure their place under ChatGPT’s answers.
This includes all the good stuff customers are unknowingly looking for:
Product/brand images
Eye-catching logos
Gripping titles and descriptions
A large landing-page link
Why it’s turning heads
There’s no denying the substantial influence AI is having on audiences, allowing users to sift through an abundance of information with a simple prompt. Gone are the days of link clicking and limited searches, replaced with entire conversations from an AI that listens.
As ChatGPT harbours 5.6 billion visits per month, ChatGPT Ads gives you the chance to insert your brand into the answers that matter, breaking up the noise with a simple, clickable solution.
We’ve seen it before. The rise of TikTok advertising saw cheap inventory and an in for businesses that was quickly swept up. With ChatGPT Ads remaining largely unexplored territory, cost-per-click remains far cheaper than neighbouring search engines, allowing businesses to claim an opportunity they may have missed previously.
And for those still teetering on a decision, ChatGPT is becoming increasingly more valuable to business-to-business deals. In January 2026, 70% of workplace AI users were using ChatGPT, opening an underused angle to coincide with existing paid media.
For education clients, we’re seeing more questions being asked on the opportunities that may arise following the Spring 2027 social-media ban. With ChatGPT Ads, could it be a way to target demographics that may otherwise be missed?
“The 2027 social media ban doesn't just close a channel; it opens a better one. ChatGPT Ads meet parents and older students at the exact moment they're researching, not mid-scroll in their feed. For education marketers, that's not a workaround, it's an advantage worth acting on now.
We're already "querying" with our clients about advertising on ChatGPT, helping them get ahead of the curve as new technology reshapes how families search for their next academic year. Let's turn prompts into prospects.”

What’s the catch?
Though there are many benefits to an ever-changing platform embracing change, there are still various limitations that may affect businesses:
Targeting is still behind established platforms such as Google, with no current look-alikes to provide confidence for clients.
Measurements/Ad impact are still maturing, with full ROI not yet as clean as Google Ads.
The platform changes fast. What may work now may shift in weeks.
While these matter, they do not make the channel unattainable or unworthy. Instead, it makes having someone to watch it closely more valuable.
How Bluestorm fits in
Here at Bluestorm Design, we’re adding ChatGPT ads to our areas of expertise. Working alongside OpenAI, we’re learning the ins and outs of the platform so we can do the heavy lifting behind the scenes.
This will include:
Building campaigns around what differentiates your business, not a generic template.
Writing context hints from real customer conversations, so you land in conversations that matter.
Creative built for the format – logo, title, copy and image designed for a labelled box, not repurposed from another channel.
Technical set up done right: Ads Manager accounts, pixels, and conversion events.
Staying ahead of a platform that’s still finding shape, so the learning curve is ours, not yours.
The verdict
ChatGPT Ads aren’t a replacement for the pre-existing marketing avenues but are a valuable platform to boost further efforts. Its dominance between workplaces, public, and everyday conversations allows brands to slot in naturally.
As an advertising agency in Hull working across both digital and traditional media, we’re determined to stay ahead of the trends.
