Bishop Burton College and Riseholme College offer a vast range of specialist and technical courses for post-16 and adult learners. They’re recognised by the Department of Education as being in the top 5% of Further Education colleges nationally.

Brief

The client wanted to strengthen brand awareness and increase applications from both Further and Higher Education students through a series of marketing campaigns and an extensive website redesign. As partner campuses in East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, they required separate websites for each location targeted at their respective audiences, but with the ability to be managed through one CMS to increase efficiency for their in-house marketing and communications team. A separate brand identity was also needed for Bishop Burton Sport.

Outcome

We increased the client’s Further Education applications by almost 20% in the next academic year. We brought engagement and conversion to the fore with a bespoke website solution fit for purpose and supported with impactful, multi-platform campaigns and brand assets targeted at the right audiences. All of this was further supplemented with a new advanced database providing real-time course and application updates to allow for more responsive decision-making in a competitive market.

Our web development specialists designed and implemented a new multi-site platform to align with Bishop Burton and Riseholme’s ambitions. We split the domains but joined up the CMS, meaning each campus could retain its own clear online identity and separate SEO strategy without duplicating effort for the client’s in-house team. Clear signposting created a smoother user experience and took visitors to relevant Further Education, Higher Education and employer sections, leading to both better engagement and increased applicant numbers.

Our experts have continued to work with Bishop Burton and Riseholme College over the past few years on a variety of paid ads for search and social media. Campaigns have been as diverse as the client’s target audiences, ranging from promoting clearing and college courses to targeting adult learners and apprenticeships. A core focus has also been on boosting awareness of the Riseholme College among target students through a series of brand campaigns.

Design

Our design team created a new brand for Bishop Burton Sport along with supporting guidelines for their in-house team and external partners. We’ve continued to work with the client in subsequent years to design printed assets such as signage and prospectuses, while a standout piece of creativity was a 3D holographic video that can be projected onto walls at various events. Further design support has included personalised mailers and various digital and print materials – using Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) sourced materials where needed – for open events and other campaigns.
